Stones pelted at Bantwal MLA’s car: BJP activists protest police inaction

Bantwal: BJP party workers, on Monday, staged a protest against the police inaction into the stone-pelting incident at Bantwal in which MLA Rajesh Naik’s car was targeted by miscreants. The MLA was fortunate to escape without injuries in the incident.

Alleging that the police department was misused during the bandh, the BJP activists gheraoed the Bantwal police station demanding immediate arrest of the miscreants. They even questioned the police protection given to the former MLA while the sitting MLA had none.

The protest was called off only after ASP Hrishikesh Sonawane and Bantwal circle inspector T D Nagaraj assured to arrest the miscreants by Tuesday, September 11.

Meanwhile, a complaint was lodged by MLA Rajesh Naik at the Bantwal police station. He alleged that the miscreants had deliberately targeted his car even though several other cars too were plying on the road.

District BJP spokesperson K Harikrishna Bantwal has warned of protests if the police failed to arrest the miscreants by Tuesday.
