Chikkamagaluru: A 35-year-old man, suspecting his wife’s fidelity beheaded her and travelled 20 km on his bike with the severed head to surrender before the police.
The accused, Sathish SG runs a mutton stall in the city.
Confessing to his crime before the police, Sathish said that he was enraged to see his wife, Roopa (25) talking to another man from the village and in a fit of rage he assaulted the youth with a machete. The youth, however, fled the scene and Sathish then assaulted Roopa and chopped off her head.
Later Sathish wrapped her severed head and travelled 20 km on his bike to reach the Ajjampura police station where he surrendered before the police.
It is learnt that the couple had tied the knot, around six years ago after falling in love with each other and has two children – one boy and a girl. Reportedly the couple used to have frequent quarrels as Sathish was suspicious of Roopa’s character and the matter had even reached the police station. The police had sent the couple home after counselling them then.
