Six new jumbos join Dasara camp

Mysuru: The second batch of  Dasara elephants arrived from the Mathigod Elephant Camp and Dubare Camp at Mysuru Palace today.

With their arrival, the 12 elephants will be set for regular rehearsals and route familiarisation exercise for the Dasara procession slated for October 19.

The second batch consisted of six elephants which includes, 60-year-old Balarama, 52-year-old Abhimanyu, 37-year-old Drona all three from Mathigodu Elephant camp (Nagarhole forest) while 40-year-old Kaveri, 61-year-old Vijaya and 62-year-old Prashantha are from Dubare Elephant Camp.

The first batch of six elephants, led by Arjuna, is already camping in the city, and the second batch of the gentle giants comprises Balarama, Abhimanyu, Kaveri, Vijaya, Drona, and Prashanth.
