Belagavi: The Jarkiholi brothers, who put aside their differences to thwart DK Shivkumar’s growing influence in Belagavi district, reportedly have developed a difference of opinion yet again.

According to sources, the differences have arised since Municipalities Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi is adamant about quitting the Congress party lest his demands, which includes the post of deputy chief minister for himself are met with. Ramesh Jarkiholi is willing to switch his loyalty if the party does not concede to his demand, said the source adding that he has been offered the post of the deputy chief minister by the opposition in the event of them  forming the next government.

However younger brother and Congress MLA Satish Jarkiholi, it is gathered, has a differing viewpoint and does not wish that the issue is dragged a lot. Reportedly Satish has told the elder brother that the dramatic political move comes with consequences and their political prospects will get affected due to this.

Moreover, the Jarkiholis, by remaining politically diverse have ensured that they maintain their stronghold on the district. Of the five brothers – Ramesh, Satish and Lakhan are with the Congress, while Balachandra and Bhimshi are with the BJP.

Meanwhile, the BJP is hoping that the rift within the Congress leaders will lead to the downfall of the coalition government  thus gifting them a chance to stake claim to form the next government.
