Mangaluru: DK District unit of the Akhila Bharatha Karmika  Sangha  staged a protest in support of their several demands including construction of a  hostel for beedi workers on Friday, September 21st.

The protestors burnt an effigy of the Labour Department to vent their ire against the authorities for not fulfilling their demands. The Sangha demanded that the massage parlours, pubs, skill game centres and such other unlawful activities should be shut down.

Addressing the gathered, Labour leader Sudatta Jain Shirthady said that the several agitations held to prevail upon the authorities to construct a hospital for beedi workers have been futile. Even the appeal made to the DC has not yielded any result, he added.
