Retired ship captain commits suicide by stabbing self

Udupi: A retired ship captain has committed suicide by stabbing himself. This shocking incident took place in Manipal on Monday, September 24th.  The victim has been identified as Oliver Valentine Lewis (68), a resident of Thonse.

Mr Lewis stabbed himself in the abdomen inside his Ford car. He committed this act near the house of the younger sister of his wife on the road in Manipal at late night on September 23rd. The severity of the self inflicted wound was such that the victim’s innards had spilt out of the wound.

A death note was reportedly found at the spot in which the victim assures that he himself is responsible for his death. The mortal remains of the victim have been shifted to Manipal hospital for post mortem.

Superintendent of police Lakshman Nimbargi, additional SP Kumarachandra and other senior police officials have visited the place. Manipal police have registered a case in this regard.
