Housing board official accepting bribe arrested by ACB

Mangaluru: The assistant revenue officer of Karnataka housing board (KHB) was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 on Friday, September 28th.
The complaint
According to complaint by Gangadhar K, a resident of Adyapadi Bajpe, his ancestors had borrowed loan from KHB. After the loan was repaid by the borrower, KHB, Dakshina Kannada district executive engineer Vijaya Kumar and assistant revenue officer Srinivas Shetty had demanded Rs 20,000 bribe to return the original documents of the property and issue no objection letter to Gangadhar. Post negotiations, the officials agreed to accept Rs 12,000. Gangadhar paid Rs 2,000 on the spot and said that he will pay the remaining 10,000 the following day. Later Gangadhar went to the ACB office and filed a complaint in this regard.
Caught red hand
On Friday, Gangadhar went to the KHB office at Kavoor and learnt that the executive engineer Vijaya Kumar had gone out. Therefore, Gangadhar went to pay the money to assistant revenue officer Srinivas Shetty. Simultaneously, the Dakshina Kannada ACB officials caught Srinivas Shetty red-handed accepting the bribe amount. The accused has been produced in the court.
On receiving information about the raid, the executive engineer Vijaya Kumar is absconding.

ACB SP Shruthi N S, DySP Sudheer M Hegde, inspector Yogish Kumar and staff Hariprasad, Umesh, Radhakrishna K, Radhakrishna, Prashanth, Vyashali, Rakesh, Vagman and Ganesh were part of the operation.
