Mandya: In the third instance of beheading in the state within the span of a month, a 28-year-old man walked into the Malavalli Police Station with the severed head of his friend on Saturday morning.
The accused Pashupathi informed police officials that the victim, Girish, 28, had spoken ill of his mother which eventually led to a fight between the two.
A preliminary investigation conducted by the police has confirmed that Pashupati and Girish, both residents of Chikkabagilu village were good friends. “Prima facie it appears like the victim had been murdered in the morning, just before his head was brought to the station,” said Shivaprakash Devaraj, Mandya Superintendent of Police.
Meanwhile, the police are investigating the case to find out if the accused was influenced by similar incidents that took place in Chikkaballapura and Chikkamagaluru recently.
