New Delhi: A 23-year-old youth, who rescued several people during the recent floods in Kerala, died after being hit by a truck in a road accident near Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on Friday. He died a day later on Saturday, September 29.
Jinesh Jerone was among the several heroes who helped rescue people stranded in Chengannur in Alappuzha district, one of the worst-hit areas during the Kerala floods and ensured that they reach to safety. However, on Saturday, Jinesh’s scream for help went unheard by passersby even as he lay on the road bleeding profusely for over half-an-hour.
Jinesh was taken to the hospital only after medical help arrived but valuable time had been lost by then.
His mortal remains were carried in a procession with scores of people accompanying the coffin to the church on Sunday.
