Mangaluru: In view of an impending cyclonic storm, expected to hit the coastal Karnataka and Kerala region, the met department has issued an alert advising fishermen not to venture into the sea between October 5-10 and has urged those at sea to return before October 5.
According to the meteorological department’s prediction, the formation of a low-pressure area observed over the Arabian Sea, close to the Sri Lankan coast could turn cyclonic and may trigger heavy to moderate rains in the coastal region.
The alert, to the fishermen, has been issued in view of the predicted turbulent weather conditions at the sea.
The depression is expected to move north-westward away from Maldives, Lakshadweep, and Kerala towards the open Central Arabian Sea within two to three days since its formation, the IMD has predicted.
