Grotto demolition: Two more arrested

Mangaluru: Vittal police nabbed two more persons in connection with the demolition of the Grotto of Our Lady of Velankanni, at Kulalu Kuntrakala in Kolnadu, taking the total number of arrests to four. 

The arrested have been identified as Vasanth (37) and Yogesh (32). Earlier the police had arrested Jayaram Naik and Monappa Naik in connection to the case. A police constable identified as Ashok attached to the Vittla police station was suspended for alleged dereliction of duty following the incident.

It may be recalled that on September 27 night miscreants had demolished the grotto here and installed buntings at the spot. The police booked a case under IPC Section 143, 147, 153A, 295 A and 427.
