Speech and Hearing conference at SOAHS

Manipal: School of Allied Health Sciences, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal will conduct the fifth audiological conference ‘AUDICON 5’ at the institute premises from October 11 to 13, 2018. The inaugural programme will be held at 9:30 pm in the multipurpose Hall of the SOAHS building. Dr Sankar Prasad Gorthi will be the Chief Guest and Dr B Rajashekar will be the guest of Honour. Dr Hari Prakash P will preside.
AUDICON is a platform for professional audiologists as well as students to share valuable clinical knowledge and to obtain hands-on training to use various audiological test equipment. The Department of Speech and Hearing at School of Allied Health Sciences, MAHE is one of the very few centres in the country equipped with state of the art facilities to assess and rehabilitate people suffering from various speech and hearing disorders.
In this year’s edition of AUDICON, the focus will be to provide a deeper insight into concepts related to cortical auditory evoked potentials. These concepts are gaining a huge momentum in the clinical field worldwide. These tests have the potential to provide vital information regarding how an individual’s brain responds to various sounds. Further, these clinical tests can play a significant role in diagnosing hearing disorders with greater accuracy.
A total of 120 students and professionals from various speech and hearing institutions across the country will participate. They will be attending a series of seminars and hands-on training sessions conducted by the subject experts. This conference has been recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India, Govt. of India and is supported by companies and industries like Starkey, Bernafon, Oticon, ALPS, Natus, Interacoustics and AEROBE internationals
