This art is suited for women and can be extensively used as self-defence. Our aim is to make people aware of the benefits of this martial art.”
“I personally have struggled a lot to learn. We are not even sure if we are learning it the right way, under the right coach and no better than the sensei himself- Sensei Salomao Lima belongs to team cicero costa- Which is one of the best in the world. This is why I thought of introducing Judo that is an Olympic sport today and Jiu-Jitsu that soon may become an Olympic sport in my hometown,” he added.
Alpha Academy has a trio coach, Sensei Salomao, Srikanth Kotian and Dariyappa, a judo black belt from Bengaluru who will be teaching Judo and Jiu-Jitsu. Sensei Salomao Lima said, “Jiu-Jitsu is not for war, it is for peace. An offshoot of Judo, Jiu-Jitsu was developed to improve health, basically to make a stronger version of ourselves. It is used to defend or protect oneself. As this does not require strength like other martial arts and can be practised by non-athletes and also people with small built. I will be in Mangalore to teach this beautiful sport to one and all.”
