Tween girl’s death in hospital; parents complain of medical negligence

Bantwal: The parents of a 11-year-old girl who died at a hospital here have filed a complaint on October 12th with the town police station here, charging the doctors attending to their daughter of causing her death by their negligence.
The deceased tween has been identified as Rakshitha (11), second daughter of Vittal Poojary from Agrar here, who was a fifth standard student of Agrar church school. She breathed her last on Friday October 11th.
On Wednesday 3rd, Rakshitha had suffered from fever following which she was examined and given medicines at the government hospital here. She attended her school as usual on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday she suffered from fever again. The parents took her again to the same hospital.
According to the doctor’s advice, blood test was done and Rakshitha was put on drips. Later she began to suffer from shivering accompanied by fever, and also started vomiting. Therefore, the parents were advised to take her to Wenlock Hospital Mangaluru for further treatment.
Rakshitha was admitted in Wenlock Hospital but failed to respond to the treatment and succumbed to her ailment on October 11th.
In their complaint to the police, the parents of the deceased tween have mentioned that the negligence of doctors at Wenlock Hospital was responsible for their daughter’s death.
The police have registered a case based on the complaint and SI Charashekar of the station is investigating the case.
