Good rain with thunder and lightning in Coastal districts

Mangaluru: Heavy downpour accompanied by thunder and lightning was witnessed at various parts of the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi on the night of Saturday, October 13th.
The rain in Mangaluru city was intense coupled with high-velocity wind, thunder and lightning. The sudden rain dampened the enthusiasm of the public who arrived in large numbers to participate in the Dasara festivities. The rain also caused traffic jam at various places in the city and some areas of the city also suffered power outages.
Incessant rain was observed in the areas of Harihaha Pallathadka, Kollamogru, Balugodu and Kalmakar near Sullia. Good rain was also reported from Puttur, Uppinangady, Dharmasthala, Belthangady, Venoor, Madyanthar, Macchina, Vittal, Kateel, Bantwal, Sullia, Moodbidri and Surathkal.
Udupi
The city of areas of Udupi, Manipal, Padubidri and Karkala received heavy rains. As per the meteorological department, rains are expected to continue in the coastal districts for the next two days.
