Four including three children killed in car-tanker collision

Kasargod/Udupi: Four members of a family, including three children, were killed while four others sustained serious injuries after the car in which they were travelling collided head-on with a tanker at Edattu near Payyannur in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Bindulal Sreedharan, 42, of Koorkkancherry, Thrissur, his daughter Diya, 11, Bindulal’s sister’s children – Tharun,16, and daughter Aishwarya,12 are the deceased. While the former three died on the spot, Aishwarya passed away at the hospital. Injured members of the family are undergoing treatment at Pariyaram Medical College Hospital.
According to the police, the family was on its way to the Kollur Mookambike temple when it collided into the tanker, coming from Mangaluru side at Kendriya Vidyalaya bus stop near Edat here around 4.30am on Wednesday.
It is suspected that accident may have been caused due to speeding. Meanwhile, the truck driver was taken into police custody for questioning purposes.
