Death of royal family member cancels Dasara rituals within Mysuru palace

Mysuru: Rajamatha Pramoda Devi Wadiyar’s mother passed away on Friday morning October 19th.
Putta Chinnamanni (98) was suffering was receiving treatment at a private hospital in Mysuru for age-related illness, where she breathed her last.
Dasara Puja rituals cancelled
The palace priests have suggested that Dasara Puja rituals that happen inside the Palace premises should be cancelled for the next three days, following the death of Putta Chinnamanni.
Normally, the Maharaja of Mysuru, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has to perform pujas inside the palace. But due to the tragedy and in accordance with Hindu tradition, the Maharaja is under shutak and therefore will not perform any puja for the next three days.
According to sources, the Uttara Puja, Jatti Kalaga and Banni tree Puja have been cancelled. However, the government programme like the Dasara Jumbo Savari will be held as scheduled, informed the sources.
