Mangaluru: If traffic rules are violated, the traffic police collect fines on the spot or issue a notice. But, complaints are being seen on the social networks and amongst the public that even though no vehicle has be driven, nonetheless, the Mangaluru traffic police is been sending notices to homes for traffic violation.
Apparently, on August 6th, the traffic police have sent altogether four notices for traffic violation to K Sudhakar Kamath house, who is a resident of Bajpe in the outskirts of the city. The four notices are for passing in the opposite direction in one way lane, use of fancy number plate, riding the bike without wearing a helmet and pillion rider without helmet.
The notice states that the case has been registered for violation of traffic rules at Besant Women’s College road in the city and that the fine needs to be paid immediately. However, according to Sudhakar, he had not come to Mangaluru on that day. He also says that his number plate is legal. As soon as he received the notice, he contacted the traffic control room near Kadri and Pandeshwar police station for details. The traffic police informed him that the notice was sent post analysis if the CC camera footage. But there is no CC camera installed along Besant Women’s College road. Hence, when he enquired with the traffic police on what basis the notice was sent, they replied that the notice was sent by analyzing the footage of the CC camera installed at PVS. But, when he confronted the police stating that there is no one way near PVS, there was no reply from the other side, alleges Mr Kamath.
We will do verification
“It is impossible to register false complaint in AMAC. Thousands of vehicles ply everyday and small mistakes may happen. After receiving notice, if there is any doubt, one needs to meet the Traffic Commissioner and verify. In case a false case has been booked, the traffic police of that area will be questioned for verification,” said Manjunath Shetty, ACP Traffic.
Notice will be cancelled
“As soon as I received the notice I contacted Kadri traffic police who informed that the CC TV footage of August month of was not available and said that they will cancel the notice,” informs Sudhakar Kamath.
