Patient, his relatives killed after ambulance jumps divider, collides into tanker

Kundapur: Three persons, including a patient, were killed and two others sustained serious injuries when the ambulance which was en route to a private hospital in Mangaluru met with a tragic accident near Kota Manuru on national highway 66 at around 12 am on Saturday, October 27.

Ullas Thalekar and Ashok are the deceased while the identity of the third person is yet to be established. 

As per reports, the ambulance driver jumped the divider, having lost control of the vehicle and collided into an oncoming bullet tanker. The ambulance, belonging to Mother Teresa Hospital was totally crushed owing to the impact of the collision. Unfortunately, while patient Ullas and two of his relatives did not survive the accident, the ambulance driver managed to escape with minor injuries. Two other of Ullas’s relatives who were in the ambulance at the time of the accident sustained critical injuries and have been admitted to the KMC hospital in Manipal for treatment.

The mortal remains of the deceased were shifted to the Kundapur government hospital.

A case about the accident stands registered in Kota police station.
