Mangaluru: Permission will be granted to extract sand from Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) areas in the district by the district administration within a week, said District in-charge minister U T Khader after inaugurating the government programme ‘Ksheera Bhagya’ for special children on Friday, November 2nd. The minister thanked for extending the programme to special children.
Speaking with the media Khader said, “The district administration will give the necessary permission to extract sand from CRZ areas within a week. Through this, a major problem of the district will be solved. Sand will be then available for all construction needs especially use for building houses.”
“After a long wait, now within a week, tender holders will get license for sand mining in CRZ areas. I have instructed the deputy commissioner to open a control room at his office to monitor sand mining and its price. Sand can be sold only at the rate fixed by the district administration. If anyone violates the rules or charges extra amount, the public can directly inform the control room. Based on the complaints from public, the district administration will take action against such violators. Meanwhile, the district administration will use the sand from 25 non-CRZ areas for the construction of government projects,” Khader explained.
Tollgate issue
“We representatives have decided to take this issue to Delhi. NHAI officials were present in the meeting who assured us of stopping toll collection at Surathkal. We will meet NHAI authorities at Delhi soon and do everything for stop the toll collection,” assured the minister.
Conversion and revenue adalat
The minister informed that a conversion and revenue adalat will be held at town hall on November 12th. “People can take advantage of this. Various issues regarding land will be sorted out in this adalat. People can submit their complaints at DC office before the adalat,” said Khader.
