Reddy not associated with BJP, says BSY reacting to CCB raids

Bengaluru: With the CCB police tightening its noose around mining baron and former minister Janardhan Reddy in connection with a money transaction worth crores of rupees, allegedly linked to a Ponzi scheme, the BJP has sought to clear away from any kind of controversy by maintaining that Reddy is not associated with the party.

Responding to a media question on the raids at Reddy’s residence, BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa said that he did not have any knowledge about the case apart from what he has read in the newspapers. “If anyone is found guilty of a wrongdoing he will be punished in accordance with the law,” he added.

Earlier Janardhan Reddy’s close friend and Molakalmuru MLA, B Sriramulu too tactfully evaded questions regarding Reddy by claiming that he had been busy with the election campaigning and had no knowledge about the case. “No person is above the law,” he said.

Going by the statements of the state BJP leaders it seems that the national leadership has briefed them on how to handle any issue with the new case connected with Reddy.

The raids at Reddy residence came a day after the by-election results which saw the Congress-JD(S) coalition win in four of five (three Lok Sabha and two Assembly) seats, including the BJP bastion of Ballari.
