Mangaluru: A former police officer turned politician has been accused of allegedly being involved in the disappearance of a youth by the parents of the youth. The missing youth is identified as Vinayak, an engineering and son of auto rickshaw driver Shiva Kumar, Sakamma couple from Shaktinagar.
In a complaint submitted to the Urwa police station by the couple states that their son Vinayak was pursuing engineering at a college in a city. However, Vinayak dropped out of college in his second year and joined then Bajpe police sub-inspector Madan after the latter quit the service and plunged into politics.
During the last Assembly Elections, Madan had contested from Mangaluru South constituency. During the period of elections, Vinayak got in touch with Madan and started staying at his house. Even after elections, Vinayak continued to stay with Madan, allege his parents.
Vinayak’s parents had asked Madan to send their son back to which Madan convinced them that their son will return after getting a good job. However, the parents now allege that Vinayak has stopped talking to them over phone since October 8th. Hence, the parents phoned Madan on October 15 only to be informed by him that their son had left his house on October 8. Hence, the parents have lodged a complaint at Urwa police station alleging role Madan in the missing case of their son.
The parents also allege that Madan’s phone is switched off and that he is not co-operating with the police. Meanwhile, it is learnt that Vinayak’s phone has been recovered from a flat belonging to relatives of Madan where they both were staying.
