Mangaluru: Mangaluru South police arrested six persons on charges of creating a ruckus at the district Government Wenlock Hospital on Sunday, November 11.

The arrested have been identified as Sharan, Brijesh, Anantaprasad, Avinash Pinto, Harish and Mahesh.

Reportedly a gang of 50 persons had created ruckus at the hospital alleging that their injured friends were not being given timely treatment. In a complaint filed by the hospital authorities, it has been alleged that the mob used abusive language with the on-duty hospital staff and even damaged hospital property.

A case has been registered under various sections of the IPC, including IPC Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), and Karnataka Prohibition of Violence against Medicare Service Personnel and Damage to Property in Medicare Service Institutions Act, 2009 against them.

A video of the incident that has emerged on Whatsapp shows two people waiting for medical assistance. Their friends are heard asking a hospital staff the reason for the delay in attending them. The staff tells the youths that necessary measures were already being administered tetanus toxoid (TT) and further medical help would be given soon. However, they object to this.
