Bantwal: Bantwal and Panemangalore Block Congress Committees held a protest in front of the BC Road branch of the Vijaya Bank to oppose the merger of Vijaya Bank on Friday November 16th.
Addressing the gathered, former minister B Ramanatha Rai said that the government has plans to help the corporates by merging the profit making Vijaya Bank with loss making banks. the move is made at the behest of the Prime Minister and there is a ploy to wipe out the name of a bank which is the pride of Dakshina Kannada, he pointed out.
Mr Rai was very critical of the alleged statement of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel that the merger proposal was signed during the prime ministership of Dr Manmohan Singh.
