6 tourists killed, over 10 injured in bus-lorry collission at Annigere

Hubballi: At least six persons were killed and 10 others injured when the private bus in which they were travelling, overturned having met with an accident near Annigeri on NH63 here on Saturday morning.

Vishwanath (76), Dinakar (70), Sumedha (60), Ramesh (56), Lahu (65) and Suchitra (65), all residents of Mumbai died on the spot in the mishap. The injured were rushed to the KIMS Hospital in Hubballi.

As per preliminary information, the bus passengers were on a week-long tour in Karnataka and were on their way to Hampi from Hubballi when the mishap took place. It is gathered that a truck coming from the opposite direction rammed into the bus causing it to overturn.

Negligent driving on part of the truck driver is said to have led to the accident. Meanwhile, the truck driver is said to have fled the accident spot.

Annigeri police visited the spot and registered a case.
