Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district police arrested a 29-year-old youth for alleged sexual harassment of a minor in Punjalakatte.
Praveen Poojary, a resident of Bantwal was arrested on the basis of the complaint filed by the girls’ parents.
Reportedly, Praveen came in touch with the minor, hailing from Kerala when he was working as an administrator in a private school near Vamadapadavu and had even proposed her. However some three months ago Praveen was terminated from service after the school authorities got a whiff of his affair and even the girl returned to her hometown.
Recently, the girls’ parents approached the local police after Praveen started making calls to the minor and sent sexually explicit messages to her over the phone. Following the complaint the police arrested him. However, as the girl did not come forward to lodge a complaint, no case was registered under the Pocso Act but he was booked for creating nuisance in society.
Meanwhile, Praveen secured a bail after signing a bond in front of the tahsildar.
