Fish ban; Delegation to Goa: Jayamala

Kundapur: Based on a suspicion of use of chemicals on fish to maintain their freshness, Goa state has banned the use of fish from coastal Karnataka, and if it fails to repeal its ban son, the minister shall visit the state along with a delegation have talks on the issue, informed Udupi district in-charge minister Dr. Jayaymala on Wednesday November 21st.

Speaking with the media the minister said that it is not smart to chop off ones nose only because one is suffering from cold. The punishment should be given to those who have erred. Instead, banning all the fish is not correct. Talks have already been held with Minister Venkatrao Nadagowda and U T Khader.  A ban of this sought is causing much adverse effect on fishermen, she said.

Sand: Cannot pass a new order

Speaking on the issue of sand the minister said that we cannot pass an order to rectify CRZ rules. It should be done by the union. The government because of which these incidents are occurring is in the center and they need to attempt. We have applied our government pressure on the center. There is no politics in this. Our only aim is to develop the district, explained the minister.

In relation to the sand, the DC has given the require information and has identified 30 sand bars in the district for traditional sand mining. A letter has been written to rectify the limit for the bio sensitive areas under CRZ near the river course in Kundapur and Byndoor taluks. TNoo answer has come from the center. If the ban is continued, ont a single san bar will be identified in Kundapur, she informed.
