Padubidri: The provision of police protection with permission from the district administration to Navayuga Company which is sticking to its aim to collect toll from local vehicles at its toll plaza in Hejmady and Sastan from November 26 will inevitably attract protest, stated a joint press release from the undivided districts Tollgate Horata Committee.
Navayuga Company does not have money to pay back its bank loan and therefore is implementing this new rule on the people of Udupi and for this reason the committee is condemning this action going beyond party lines. It must be taken into account that according to the PIL lodged with the High Court by the state government’s lawyer, no toll gate in the state collect fee from non-commercial vehicles in the state. The district administration should not help Navayuga company which has done unprofessional work, informed the committee.
On Nov 28th, the committee’s stand will be put forth by the district in-charge minister at a meeting regarding the national highway to be held at the DC office. Only after this will a decision be possible said the committees of the undivided district.
