Kota: The National Highway Awareness Committee held protest at Sasthan Toll Plaza against the forced collection of toll charges by Navayuga Company in spite of alleged unscientific construction of four lane road on NH 66.
The police stopped the activists from entering the tollgate and tashildar Pradeep Kurudekar and ASP Jaishanker tried to pacify the protesters. However, the activists demanded the toll collection be done only after holding meeting with district in-charge minister.
Take Navayuga Company to task.
The protestors said that the service road, flyover, pedestrian over-bridge and underpass should be constructed. There should be a separate road for ambulance. Local vehicles should be exempted from toll charges. However, Navayuga Company is collecting toll charges without any of these facilities. Therefore the Union government should immediately take Navayuga Company to task. The deputy commissioner should immediately visit the spot and solve the problem, said the protestors. They also urged that the highway should be constructed in a scientific way.
As a precautionary measure, the police detained the activists. Nearly 200 police personnel have been placed for security near the toll fate where the toll charges are being collected.
