Toll gate controversy: Meeting in B’lutu today

Padubidri/Kota: Giving ear to the demands of the national highway toll opposition protestors protesting against the collection of toll from local vehicles, under the leadership of Udupi district in-charge minister Dr Jayamala and presided by PWD minister Revanna and attended by MLA’s, a high level meeting will be onducted at 3 pm at Bengaluru on Thursday, informed Dr Deviprasad Shetty, president of the Hotata committee and Pratap Shetty, president of the highway awareness committee.
Along with the chief secretary of the PWD, officials from various departments, Navayuga officials, MLA’s from Karavali, leader of the opposition in the legislative council Kota Srinivas Poojary, and leaders of the protesting committees at Sasthan and Hejmady will be taking part in the meeting, informed Dr Deviprasad.
The toll collection from local vehicles at Hejmady toll gate has carried on literally. Only Hejmady villagers are allowed free passage only after showing their identity card.
In the backdrop of peoples outrage, the problems meted on the locals at Sasthan toll gate has slightly reduced and the future fight will be planned based on the outcome of the decisions taken at the meeting, he informed.
