District Youth Congress demands stern action against accused in Bengre rape case

Mangaluru: The District Youth Congress condemned the Thota Bengre incident, where a woman was gang raped by seven men on November 18 and had demanded stringent action against the accused.
District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai addressed the media on Wednesday and said, “We demand stern action against all the culprits. The police have managed to nab four. It is unfortunate that such an incident took place and it is a black spot to the district which is known as an education hub and known for its culture and tradition.”
He also demanded that the bar association refrain from representing the accused in the case.
Panambur police station too far
“It is necessary to have a police outpost at Thota Bengre. In this regard, police have sent proposal to install an outpost at Thota Bengre and also urged district-in-charge minister U T Khader and Home Minister to respond immediately on this demand,” informed Mr Rai.
Mr Rai also added that the victim be provided necessary compensation and provision through the government.
