Belagavi: Though Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy had promised that the farmers will not be arrested if they are not able to repay their loans, JMFC Court Belagavi has issued an arrest warrant against a farmer for not repaying the loans.

Siddanagouda Patil of Jamkhandi taluk had failed to repay the loan of Rs 3.39 lakh that he had taken for implementing drip irrigation system from Belagavi branch of Sustainable Agro-Commercial Finance.

As he failed to repay the loan the bank filed a case against him, following which the court has issued a warrant against him. Meanwhile, Siddanagouda has sought help from the district administration.
