Karkala: There is information that a team of 13 members who were fully armed have visited a few homes of Idu village located on the lower side of the Western Ghats in the taluk here on Nov 29th.
It is being said that the team visited Bare, Manjottu areas on Tuesday and Bollettu area on Wednesday. Around 6:300 pm in the evening, they visited a few homes and spent some time there. They discussed some issues with the family members and as night emerged they ventured into the forest.
Tulu-Telugu-Malayalam
According to the available information, the team was made up of three women and ten men. They were speaking in Tulu, Telugu and Malayalam languages. They were in naxal fatigues, equipped with guns, laptop, mobile and other modern equipment.
Questioned on problems
They proposed various problems regarding the Malnad region during their visit. Not only did they ask for food, they actually had food at one house, charged their laptop there and left off with a bundle of old newspapers.
Regular visit?
It is after a span of 5-6 year that a team like this is visiting this area which is a low lying area of the ghat. Previously too, teams of naxalites have visited in the same manner, say the villagers.
Water tank problem?
In this region there is a problem in connection to a water tank in the forest area here. This water tank which is beneficial for 10 families here is facing opposition from a person. There is suspicion that this issue might be the reason behind the meeting.
Undecided: ANF
It is not definite if the naxalites had visited the Idu region. The people might have seen somebody and felt suspicious. There is no clear information about this. There is continuous search being conducted in Idu region. Recently, the search is being conducted during the nights as well. 11 battalions are in action and it was conducted until Nov 28th, inform ANF officials.
