Three members of a family killed after bike falls into canal

Mandya: In a tragic accident, three members of the same family die after their moped bike fell into a canal at Lokasara village on Sunday, December, 2 night.

The deceased are identified as Nagamma( 50), her daughter Ambika ( 30) and granddaughter Manyata(6).

It is gathered that the trio were returning home after their temple visit when the mishap took place near Hebbakavadi canal. The incident came to light when a passerby noticed a two-wheeler floating in the water. 

The bodies were lifted up with the help of the villagers and have been shifted to mortuary attached to Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences ( MIMS), informed sources.

Mandya south police visited the spot and have registered a case in this regard.

This is the second such incident in the district since last 15 days. Recently a bus which fell into a canal had claimed the lives of 30 people including school children.
