New Delhi/Bengaluru: In a big relief to BJP state president and former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, the supreme court quashed all five illegal land denotification cases filed against him before the Special Court. The court stated that they did not stand the scrutiny of the law and appeared politically motivated.

A bench comprising Justices A.K. Sikri, Ashok Bhushan and S.A.Nazir quashed five cases registered against Yeddyurappa by Sirajin Basha, an advocate and social activist.

It may be recalled that Sirajin Basha had filed a case in the high court that Yeddyurappa had indulged in illegal denotification when, but the court had declared him innocent. Therefore, Basha filed an appeal in the Supreme Court.

The court had found the case against his father politically motivated, therefore quashed the case, said Yeddyurappa’s son, B.Y.Vijayendra responding to the verdict.
