Illegal transportation of beef; bus impounded, driver, conductor arrested

Karkala: Based on reliable information, Hebri police intercepted a mini bus moving towards Mangaluru from Shimoga via Hebri and Udupi on Friday December 7.  Apparently, the bus was illegally transporting beef and hence the police have seized the bus and arrested the driver and conductor.

The arrested bus driver and conductor are identified as Rizwan and Deepak respectively and are from Shimoga.

According to sources, the accused were transporting beef on kept in a packet which was to be delivered to a person in Udupi.on behalf of the sender from Shimoga. Further investigations will reveal if the transporters were oblivious of the contents of the package or not.

The parcel containing 15kgs of beef has been seized by the Hebri police team led by the station officer Mahabala Shetty. Investigation is underway.
