Kundapur: Three more weeks are required to give permission for the extraction of sand from non-CRZ areas, said Udupi deputy commissioner, Priyanka Mary Francis speaking with the reporters on Saturday December 9th.

The DC said that 5 people have been given permission in the form of tender in CRZ area. There is information that at some places there are hindrances. If a written complaint is given, opportunity will be given for sand mining under police protection. After the permission has been given, there cannot be any hindrances.

Since it the first time in the district that the permission is being given for sand mining from non-CRZ areas, more time is required. It will take three weeks for the tender process and permission or finance. The sand which was removed from Kodi area during the construction of Gangolli breakwater will provided to the people at government rates. For this one can contact the PWD, she informed.

The talks between the contractor and protestors in connection to the Sasthan toll collection fight have been successful. It has come to the notice that as the staff keeps changing, it leads to problems and the same will be informed to the contractor, said the DC.
