Pay Rs 1.15 crore compensation to accident victim’s family: Udupi Court to Insurance Company

Udupi: Chief civil judge (senior section) of Udupi court has ordered the insurance company to pay a compensation of Rs 1.15 crore to the victim’s family in a case relating to the death of a bike rider, who was killed when his bike was hit by a tipper on August 2, 2016.

Johnson Michael D’Souza was riding his bike at Ganapanakatte, Moodubelle near here when a tipper lorry which was over-speeding and being driven recklessly, hit his bike and he had lost his life. A case seeking compensation was filed in this regard in the Udupi court.

In its order to the insurance company of the tipper lorry, the Court has asked it to pay Rs 1,15,96,800 and an additional interest of 6.1% on the amount and also the expenses borne by the applicant. Lawyer Alevoor Premraj Kini had argued the case in favour of the applicant.
