Bengaluru: A 20-year-old boy allegedly set his mother ablaze by pouring petrol for not giving him money and the video of this incident has gone viral on social media.

The accused is identified as Utham and the victim is his mother Bharti.

As per sources, on Thursday, December 6 Bharati refused to give money to her son knowing that her son would spend it on alcohol. The denial by Bharti angered Utham, who then poured petrol on her and set her ablaze. On seeing this his father rushed and put of the fire and took Bharati to a private hospital nearby.

Bharti has sustained burn injuries on chest, hand and face and is still undergoing treatment, informed sources.

A complaint against Utham has been lodged by his father with the Sadashivanagar Police. The accused is currently on the run and the police are trying to nab him.
