Mangaluru: Amid public demands of the closure of the toll gates at Brahmarakootlu on national highway 75 and Suratkal on national highway 66, BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, on Monday said that the closure process can be initiated after the state government submits a proposal to the central office of NHAI.

Chairing a meeting held at the DC’s office here Kateel said that in response to his letter written to NHAI authorities seeking dismantling of tollgates at Suratkal and Brahmarakootlu, he was informed that the issue of road maintenance would crop up once the toll collection is stopped and hence the state government would need to submit a proposal addressing these concerns.

Apart from closure of the toll gates, discussions were held on the progress of pending projects in the region including the Pumpwell and Thokkottu flyover. He informed that the officials have assured to complete the flyovers within the given deadlines.

Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, zonal head of NHAI, project director, and other officials were present at the meeting.
