Hunting in Reserve Forest: One shot dead by forest ranger

Kasaragod: A person died after forest rangers opened fire on a team of people who were indulging in hunting within the reserve forest. Meanwhile, two others were arrested on charges of hunting.

The deceased is identified as Tanikkalkochhu alias George Vergis (45), a resident of Chittarikal Taimeni. The incident took place at Vagaman border which about 3 km from Chittarikal in Bhagamandala which is within Karnataka borders.  

George along with his friends Ashokan and Chandran from Chittarikal had ventured into the reserve forest which is at a distance of 3 kms with the aim to hunt wild animals. During this time, forest rangers who were patrolling the area opened fire which consequently killed George after a bullet pierced through his chest. Ashokan and Chandran who were with the deceased that time, have been arrested.
