To give alcohol during functions, CL-5 occasion license compulsory

Mangaluru/Udupi: People organizing a function in community halls, conference hall, dinner parties, and birthday parties and wishing to give alcohol to their guests during the occasion must compulsorily get CL-5 occasion license from the Excise Department.
It is compulsory to apply one week before the occasion, pay the required fees and avail the Department’s permission to get the CL-5 occasion license. After the license has been sanctioned, the alcohol must be compulsorily be bought from KSBCL outlet itself. As per the Karnataka Excise Department (sale of Indian and foreign alcohol) of 1968 rule 8(5) the prescribed fee per day is Rs 10,000 and an additional fee of Rs 1,500 per additional day @ !5% needs to be paid t avail the occasion license.
If the organizer of a wedding or a birthday party gives alcohol/beer to its guests without the permission of the Excise Department including tax free Goan alcohol or foreign liquor or alcohol from military canteens and the information of such an act comes to the notice of the department, it will initiate legal action against the offender, stated release from the Assistant Commissioner of the Excise Department
