Six workers injured in accident at Shree Cement Factory in Sedam.

Sedam: Six contract workers were injured while cleaning a conveyor belt that had jammed on Saturday, December 15.
The accident took place at Shree Cement Factory in Sedam taluk of Kalaburagi district. The injured are Manoj (27), Devendrappa Sharanappa (31), Lakshman Basanna (35), Devendrappa Siddanna (35), Ravikumar Channareddy (46) and Mallappa Mundinamane (37).
It is gathered that the belts used to transports raw material within the factory stopped moving as it got jammed with stones and mud. About 10 workers stepped on it by 9.30 AM and began removing the material stuck in the wheels and chain of the belt. After one hour of cleaning, suddenly the belt began moving when the workers were still sitting on it, as the result the workers were trapped in the moving belt and the heavy iron chain.
The injured were immediately rushed to United Hospital in Kalaburagi and are undergoing treatment.
The Sedam police officials visited the spot to carry out an investigation, informed sources.
