Udupi: Action against unauthorised stone quarries operating in the district and their closure was demanded at a Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) meeting chaired by zilla panchayat president Dinakar Babu, held at the zilla panchayat auditorium here on Saturday, December 15th.
President of the Zilla panchayat standing committee Babu Shetty took up the topic said that unauthorised stone quarries are operating in Kundapur and said, “Therefore, government loses crores of royalty from them. Some of them are in forest land. Those are operating without any precautionary measures. Therefore, suitable action should be taken against them.”
Delay in electricity connection
“Though bore wells have been dug under Ganga Kalyana project there is delay in giveing electricity connections to them. This is causing much hardship to the beneficiaries. Therefore the concerned corporations and Mescom needs to take action in this connection. The vented dams constructed by small irrigation department have become defunct due to the lack of maintenance. Hence, a committee of consumers should be formed within the vented dam limits and the dam’s maintenance must be handed over to them,” said the president.
Absent teachers
“When government school teachers go on long leave, teachers from other schools deputed in substitution fail to attend classes and cause problems in teaching the lessons. The education department should avoid it and apply suitable procedures for their transfer,” said the zilla panchayat standing committee president Udaya Kotian.
“All the pending salaries of the guest teachers has been provided,” informed officials from the Department of Education.
Notice for work report
The zilla panchayat chief executive Sindhu B Roopesh asked officials to complete the works under the special unit and backward class project schemes within the stipulated period. Besides also send a report every month to the social welfare department.
“Rs 25,000 subsidy is received for every gram panchayat to improve computerisation and e-services. Therefore, the gram panchayats should start working towards it. GP members must make sure that honorarium gets depositied directly into the accounts of the members by using ‘Khajane-2′ facility,” Nagesh Raikar, Zilla panchayat chief project officer.
