Rohan Bopanna partners with Sports School

Bengaluru: India’s leading doubles player Rohan Bopanna on Wednesday partnered with The Sports School, which will offer programmes in different sports including tennis, football and cricket along with regular schooling.

Spread over a sprawling 19 acres campus, the school will be operational from the 2019-2020 academic session.

Key infrastructure at the school will include ITF-approved seven tennis courts, FIBA standard two basketball courts and 65 yards cricket grounds with six practice net cages.

“I am delighted to be an integral part of The Sports School, which aims to create next-gen professional sportspersons. The Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy would offer tennis coaching exclusively through the school,” said Bopanna.

“At RBTA, we have always been committed to delivering the finest and most comprehensive tennis development programme for future champions. With the school we aim to create Olympians and Grand Slam champions,” he said.

The Jain Group of Institutions will serve as the education partner, and the entire schooling and management programmes, will be offered under Jain University, JGI Chairman Chenraj Jain said.

The school will follow CBSE syllabus programme, with PU courses following the Karnataka State Board, he said.

Jain University Sports Director U V Shankar said the school is in talks with various sports personalities including Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa for partnerships.

As much as Rs 100 crore has been spent on setting up the school and another Rs 75 crore will be raised to create additional infrastructure, Jain said.
