Temple prasada: DC advices to take precaution

Udupi: Necessary precaution needs to be taken while preparing and distributing annaprasada and other types of prasada at the temples in the district. A workshop needs to be organized to provide information in this connection to the chiefs of the administrative council of all the temples, directed Udupi district deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis to the officials of the food department.
The DC was speaking presiding over the district level food safety and quality advisory committee meeting and the district tobacco control cell‘s meeting on Friday.
CCTV cameras must be compulsorily installed at the kitchens where the variety of prasada’s are being prepared. Watch must be maintained to prevent any illegal entry into the kitchen. The prepared food must be first checked for quality and only after determining if it’s fit for distribution will theaction be taken for the prasada be distributed, notified the DC.
Quality of Bisi Oota
Food safety officials must give surprise visits to the schools in the district to check the quality of the food items used in the preparation of the ‘bisi oota’. Also visit the godowns from where the food is being supplied and check for the food quality and take action for the food safety, said the DC.
Certification for fish transport
Owners of vehicles transporting fish to Goa from the district must procure certification from the food safety officials. During the occasion of conducting raids by the district tobacco control cell within the limits of the corporation, take action n shops using plastic. Warning boards on ‘No smoking zone’ and the fine levied for violating the rule must be installed at all the beaches in the district, directed the DC.
2,61,990 fine collected
Till the end of November month, a total of 1,938 cases have been booked for violating the law by the control team of the district police and other departments of which Rs 2,61,990 has been collected in fines. Awareness programmes have been organized at 46 schools, informed Dr Vasudev, district surveillance officer.
District health and family welfare officer Dr Rohini and other officials were present at the meetings.
