CCB police arrest two for assault and extortion

Mangaluru: Two persons have been arrested by the City Crime Branch (CCB) for allegedly indulging in assault and extortion on Saturday Dec 29th.

The arrested are identified as Mohammed Akbar (22) son of Madival, a resident of Savadatti taluk in Belagavi district and Mohammed Musavir, son of Abdul Kareem, a resident of Shanthibhag in Someshwar village.

As per sources, the accused had barged into a building named ‘Sahal Student House’ at Deralakatte and assaulted Lenin and Vishnu Prakashan on Dec 22 2018. The accused also later went off with the cellphones of their victims.

A complaint in this connection was registered based on which a police team headed by CCB inspector Shantharam and Sub Inspector Shashidhar Shetty visited Deralakatte and arrested the accused on Saturday.

The accused have been produced before the Court. Two more involved in the case remain to be arrested.
