B’luru bars, pubs can be open till 2 am on New Year’s Eve, says city Compol

Bengaluru: Hotels, bars and pubs in Bengaluru can remain open till 2 am on January 1 for New Year celebrations, said City police commissioner T. Suneel Kumar on Saturday.

“However they will be allowed to remain open till 2 am only if they have obtained prior permission from the state Excise Department for serving liquor beyond the stipulated hours i.e., till 02.00 Hrs. on Jan 1, 2019 during the aforesaid period. This order is not applicable to establishments stipulated by the Excise Department under CL-2 Category, that is wine & liquor shops,” read the police order.

Furthermore, it is specified that the establishments must not create any public nuisance by playing loud music and take steps to ensure that public order is maintained. 
 
This order shall be treated as “No Objection Certificate” for the purpose of obtaining necessary permits from the Excise Department, the police statement said.
