Bike-tipper collision: bike rider dies

Kaup: A bike rider died after his bike was hit by a tipper which was over speeding and coming from the extreme left on the opposite side of the rider. The accident took place along NH 66 in front of Kaup petrol pump on Saturday Dec 29th.

The deceased is identified as Shrikant Mogaveera (23). The pillion rider is identified as Sandesh (35) and has suffered a fracture on his right leg and is admitted at a private hospital in Udupi.

The deceased and the injured youth were close relatives and were on their way from Saibrakatte to Mangaluru to participate in a house warming function there. In its attempt to turn from the petrol pump towards the highway, the truck hit the bike. Shrikant Mogaveera came under the wheels of the tipper and died on the spot.

A case in this connection has been registered with Kaup police and investigation is being carried.
