Toll: Indefinite strike decided

Padubidri: Demanding exemption from toll for vehicles from Haleyangadi, Mulki, Padubidri and Yermal regions at the Navayuga toll plaza at Hejmady, the local people came together near the toll plaza and held a protest strike on Wednesday Jan 2nd.
The protestors submitted their request to Kaup Revenue Inspector Ravishanker. If there is failure to respond to the request, a meeting will be held and a call will be given for bandh, warned the Mulki Citizens committee.
Karnataka Rakshana Vedike has given a call for an indefinite strike against Navayuga Toll at a prominent place in Padubidri on Jan 7th.
The members of Toll Gate Opposition Committee and Mulki Citizens Committee, who had gathered for the protest, held the protest peacefully. Initially the came in their cars from Mulki to Udupi without paying the toll and then started their protest.
Protesting the toll being imposed on the local people, in case the people wish, a call will be given for Padubidri bandh, said Sunil Alva, president of Mulki Citizens Committee. The committee leaders addressed those who had gathered for the protest.
Ansar Ahmed of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike said that an indefinite strike will be held by the Karave Kaup Division of the Vedike at Padubidri Junction on Jan 7th.
